Introduction
FairWalk (“we,” “our,” or “us”) provides the FairWalk mobile application (the “App”) to help visitors explore the Minnesota State Fair. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information.
Summary
In the current version of the App, FairWalk does not collect personal data from your device onto FairWalk servers. There is no active FairWalk cloud backend retaining your account, location history, analytics, or other personal information.
The App may use location on your device (with your permission) to power features such as nearby sorting and Location Codes. Preferences you save (for example favorites or plans) stay on your device unless you deliberately share them (for example by copying a Location Code or opening directions in Maps).
Information Processed on Your Device
- Location (on-device): If you allow location access, the App may read your approximate or precise location while you use the App to sort nearby places, show your position on the map, and generate Location Codes (Plus Codes). This location is processed on your device. FairWalk does not upload your GPS trail to FairWalk servers in the current version.
- Local app content: Favorites, fair-day plans, language, accessibility settings, and similar preferences may be stored in on-device storage so the App works offline and remembers your choices.
- Optional Location Codes: A Location Code is created on your device from your location (or a fairgrounds fallback). It is shared only if you choose to copy, share, or open it in another app.
Real-Time Service Requests (Not Retained by FairWalk)
To show fairgrounds weather and maps, the App may make short-lived network requests needed to display content in real time. FairWalk does not use these requests to build a personal profile about you.
- Weather: The App requests weather for the Minnesota State Fairgrounds area using fixed fairgrounds coordinates (not your personal GPS location), for example via Open-Meteo.
- Map display: The interactive map may load map tiles and map libraries from providers such as OpenStreetMap and related CDNs so the map can render.
- Street View embeds: Some place details may load an embedded Street View panorama centered on a venue location.
- Directions you open: If you tap walking directions or share a Maps link, Apple Maps, Google Maps, or another app you choose may receive the destination (and may use location under that app’s own policy). That is initiated by you and handled by that app—not stored by FairWalk.
Those third-party services process technical information (such as IP address and the content of the request) under their own privacy policies, typically only as needed to fulfill the request.
What We Do Not Do in the Current Version
- We do not sell personal information
- We do not run advertising or tracking SDKs in the App
- We do not retain your location history on FairWalk servers
- We do not operate an active cloud account/database backend that stores your personal data
Support Messages
If you email us for support, we will receive whatever you include in that message (for example your email address and the content of your request) so we can respond.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Future Cloud Features
Some features in the App (for example signed-in accounts or live friend location sharing) are designed to use a cloud service if one is configured in a future update. Those features are not active for data collection in the current shipped configuration. If we enable cloud storage of personal data, we will update this Privacy Policy and App Store privacy disclosures before or when that change takes effect.
Your Choices
- Deny or revoke location permission in system settings
- Clear or uninstall the App to remove on-device preferences
- Choose whether to open Maps, share a Location Code, or contact support
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
